An air gun is a gun (air rifle), gun (air gun), or the rifle that fired the projectile by compressed air or other gases, as opposed to firearms, the burning propellant. Most air guns use metallic projectiles as ammunition. Air guns that only use plastic projectiles are classified as airsoft guns.
Air guns is the oldest pneumatic technology. The oldest existing mechanical air pistol, air bellows gun dating back to around 1580, was in Livrustkammaren Museum in Stockholm. This is the time that most historians peg the beginning of modern air gun.
In the 17th century, air rifle, caliber .30 -. at 51, used for big game hunting deer and wild boar. This air gun is charged using a pump to fill the air reservoir and provide speeds of 650 to 1.000 feet per second. They are also used in warfare; the most famous example is the Military Girandoni Repeating Air Rifle.
